Hold onto your hats, Formula 1 fans! Red Bull Racing has just unveiled its fresh new look for the 2026 RB22 car, and it's a real head-turner. After years of subtle tweaks, the team is shaking things up with a bold new livery, and the launch took place in Detroit, the home of their new power unit partner, Ford.
The RB22, which will be piloted by the legendary four-time world champion Max Verstappen and his new teammate, Isack Hadjar, is sporting a striking blue and black color scheme. But here's where it gets interesting: a lighter shade of blue is applied in a unique jacquard pattern, and the team is returning to a glossy finish after years of matte. This is a significant shift, signaling a new era for the team.
In true Red Bull fashion, the unveiling was anything but ordinary. They enlisted the help of pilot Martin Sonka, who dramatically revealed the car by tearing off its cover from his stunt plane!
This new livery marks a pivotal moment, especially as Red Bull transitions to in-house power units. After the conclusion of their partnership with Honda, Red Bull has been hard at work building its own power units at Red Bull Powertrains. This is the most significant technical challenge the team has undertaken in its 20-year history.
Ben Hodgkinson, Red Bull Powertrains chief, shared his enthusiasm, saying, "I loved the idea of it being a blank sheet of paper, not just the power unit but the whole company, so we could custom build it to what we knew the regulations were going to be, which was a pretty cool opportunity." He also highlighted the challenges of building a team of 700 people in a short time. He added that the project attracted "bold and audacious people" who fit the Red Bull culture perfectly, leading to an exciting and intense four years of innovation.
But here's a question for you: Do you think this new livery will bring Red Bull even more success? Let us know your thoughts in the comments! Do you think they made the right choice by going with Ford? What do you think about the new color scheme? Share your opinions below!
